Aerocool DS Dead Silence Cube Chassis Review

Exterior

The chassis features a matte black finish side panel with some soft look matte black plastic trim around the top and front edges. The panel is held in place by a pair of quick release thumb screws for easy access.

The right side panel is identical to the left, to the point where I can remove the right panel and it will fit the left side just fine.

The front panel is finished in a brilliant looking matte red and features clip-in covers for a 5.25″ bay and a 3.5″ bay. Airflow to any front fans is handled by ventilation slots on the bottom, left and right sides of the front and the left and right sides of the top panel.

Around the back we can see that there is a 120mm fan pre-installed, although you can install a 140mm fan here if you wish. There’s room for some water / cable routing in the top right, four ventilated expansion slots below that, a horizontal motherboard mount and finally a cut-out at the bottom for our PSU.

The top panel is nicely equipped with a pair of USB 3.0 ports, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, HD audio jacks and the usual reset and power buttons. The top panel of the chassis can be removed by using the slide clip at the back.

Under that cover we find plenty of room for 2 x 120mm, 2 x 140mm fans, or a 240mm water cooling setup.

Should you wish to use all that top cooling space, then you can install the ventilated cover, it only takes a few seconds to swap them out and its a great way to choose between maximum air flow or maximum noise suppression.

The feet are moulded as part of the main frame of the case, with four rubber feet providing grip and plenty of grooves to allow for airflow to that sneaky slide-out dust filter that will provide with PSU with clean air.

Here we have the side panel window that was sent extra, I also should point out that if you order the edition of the case that has the window panel, this really is the only component they change. As you can see, it features a nice and clear perspex window which should give us a great interior view of the chassis.

With the window in place, we do indeed get a great interior view, this should look stunning in our final build.
