Aerocool Playa Slim RGB PC Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?
The Aerocool Playa Slim RGB PC Gaming Case is available now from most major retailers. We found it on Amazon for just £34.99, which is pretty darn cheap for what it is. Most rival products in this slim class are twice that, so it’s going to appeal to those on a really tight budget. Something from Silverstone like their RV0Z series can cost around £100 for a similar form factor.
Overview
The Aerocool Playa slim is now without its flaws, in fact, it has quite a few of them. I’m not keen on the name, but admittedly, that wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me, it’s just a name. I’m not sure on the option of a low-profile GPU in a gaming-focused product either. You GPU choices are severely limited here, which could be a problem. Unless you’re using an APU solution though, in which case, that’s not an issue at all.
Size
The chassis is also quite large, and for a “slim” product, I think they’re overreaching which what it needs to include. I mean, if you need mATX, and you need a 5.25″ drive bay, it’s fine, but I don’t think that’s a lot of people personally. Maybe we can get a Playa Slim and Short model to follow up? Plus the cable routing options look plentiful but aren’t overly useful either, so maybe they can save costs by ditching them entirely.
Aesthetics
This is where the Playa Slim really shines, literally in fact, thanks to its fantastic RGB front panel. Admittedly, the chassis has an affordable look about it. Of course, that’s because it is affordable, so that’s just what it is. But for £35 it’s pretty damn stylish, looks superb on the vertical mount, and I’d be more than happy to keep it up on my desk. It’s flawed, but it does get the job done, and at this price, it’s hard to beat it up too much. If you want better, it’s out there, but it’ll be at least twice the price and beyond. It’s a good product, but only for a fairly limited set of people.
