So there we have it, the Xpredator Evil Black Edition Full-Tower gaming chassis from Aerocool, as you may already be able to tell, I really like this chassis and for more than one reason too. The installation process was a breeze, even given the fact that this is a full tower, it’s size never caused me any issues as all the components are really well assembled and robust and provide plenty of innovative and handy installation solutions for your components.
The quick release catches on the expansion slot covers are fantastic, you do have to be fairly brutal with them to close them back up again, but once they were locked, the GTX 560 I installed wasn’t going anywhere in a hurry. The quick release clips on the optical drive bays and the removable hard drive trays are a welcome addition, as is a robust compliment of cable management cut-outs as well as the huge cut-out for installing the cpu cooler, all this added up to me being able to build the system in around 30mins, which for a chassis of this size is fantastic given how tidy the end result looks.
Throughout the build I didn’t get the impression I was going to break anything on this chassis, although I would have been disappointed if anything was flimsy, loose or rattled on this chassis given how heavy duty it looks, but there really weren’t any such issues, so a big win on build quality for Aerocool.
But overall what really matters is its performance, for a chassis that has a price tag just north of a £100, if the performance doesn’t match the price, then forget it! Fortunately for Aerocool, they live up to their name, with a pair of high quality and lets face it huge 230mm fans pre-installed in the front and top of the chassis providing some serious airflow to your components, add to that the slide open roof fins, dual fan controller dials on the front of the chassis, room for some water cooling, 4 x fan mounting options on the side panel, air filters and fan mounting points on the bottom of the chassis, mean that any hardcore gaming and pc enthusiast wanting to fit this chassis with a multi-gpu setup, need not worry about cooling.
The style is a love or hate issue, I think it looks fantastic, but I can guess that the bright orange might be a bit “extreme” for some gamers. Fortunately the chassis is available in more colours such as green and even a full white one, but regardless of what you think of its style, the performance is rock solid, which is why were awarding the Aerocool Xpredator our Extreme Performace Award.
