Affinity Photo Gets Overhauled With Update v1.5

Today Serif software announced the release of the biggest update yet to the Affinity Photo imaging application, version 1.5. From its early stages, Affinity Photo seemed to have what it takes to catch up with Adobe’s PhotoShop and Phase One’s Capture One Pro and become a real contender in the professional photography and image manipulation software category.

Today’s update brings a whole lot of new features and enhancements. Let’s take a brief look at the new features list:

  • Full HDR merge support (32bit image support)
  • 360° image editing
  • Recordable Macros with interactive attributes
  • Focus merge (Stacking)
  • Complete Tone Mapping workspace
  • New equations filter
  • Dust & Scratches filter
  • 3 new marquee selection modes
  • New color picker tool
  • Accumulation brush dynamic (allows brushes to be configured to build opacity)
  • Batch Processing
  • New halftone filter
  • Live perspective projection
  • Direct PSD write-back
  • OpenColorIO support
  • Full Text Style support
  • MacBook Pro Touch Bar support
  • Clone Sources panel
  • Pixel Art Document Resizing
  • New export options
  • OpenEXR import/export
  • Cross platform (MacOS & Windows)

Apart from the new features several already existing features received an overhaul, like:

  • The Lens Profiles database received new entries, now includes thousands of Lens & Camera body combinations for automated lens correction
  • File compatibility improvements to both PDF and PSD import/export
  • Improved Metadata handling
  • Improved RAW file processing
  • Improved Vectorscope
  • Pixel Tool improvements
  • Huge snapping improvements

They also added a Bonus Pack with Macros for free! Last but not least, they are kind enough to reduce the price from 49.99€ to 39.99€ (full ownership, updates within version 1 for free, no subscription plan or hidden costs).
