We reported about 3 months ago that Age of Empires: Definitive Edition wouldn’t come out until 2018. Well, it looks like the wait is almost over, as Microsoft has just revealed the game’s official release date. We’ll be able to play Age of Empires: Definitive Edition starting February 20, which is just a month away. When compared to the classic, this game will feature several modern improvements. These aim to enhance the overall gameplay experience quite a bit. Don’t expect too much eye-candy, though, as this is still quite an old title.
Some of the most important features include remastered visuals with 4K support, as well as a fully remastered soundtrack. We should also mention the new zoom levels, the enhanced gameplay, and the 250-300 population cap. Then there’s the Attack Move, Rally Points Basic, Rally Points Contextual (Intelligent Villagers) and Grid default key layout. You will be able to play this game online via Xbox LIVE, but LAN play will also be available, of course. Each mission now comes with its own campaign narration, and the campaign and scenario editor are both much better as well. That being said, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about this new version of Age of Empires.
Will you give it a try once it comes out in February?
