A Closer Look
AOC has really gone into detail with this monitor, making it extremely well suited to the world of competitive gaming, but also just a great monitor in general. At 27″ the panel size is decent, I prefer 32″+ myself, but moving a few inches closer to the screen soon solves that problem. It features a good anti-glare on treatment too, but it’s not full matte, so the you’ll still get a nice popping contrast from it. Not that light hitting the screen is a big deal, as with a peak brightness of 1000 nits, this thing will outshine whatever you throw at it. However, the screen gets dirty really easily, I’ve cleaned it like 4 or 5 times today, and somehow it still gets grubby (possibly from moths and other bugs?).
The bezels are extremely small, so there’s no distraction and of course, if you use a couple of them, they’ll push up together very nicely.
The stand is interesting, as it’s what they’re calling their “E-Sports Monitor Stand” which was co-designed with eSports professionals, and it maximises desktop space, as you can place a keyboard over it, and the side cuts free up space for your mouse.
Around the back, the monitor looks great, so if you have an open desk, or they’re facing out to the crowd at an eSports tournament, the monitor is going to look its best.
It has Light FX built in too, allowing you to throw some colours via the RGB hardware on here. There’s a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, and a pair of DisplayPort 1.4 ports, as well as USB 3.2 (Gen 1) (2 USB downstream ports) 5Gbit.
