NCsoft’s fantasy MMO Aion makes the change from the subscription model to free-to-play on 28th February, new distributor Gameforge has announced.
Both the German, French and English versions of the game will all swap over simultaneously. The free game client is already available for download from the MMO’s official site.
“The response we received from the beta players on our free-to-play model was fantastic,” commented executive product director Volker Boenigk.
“We can’t wait for the launch so that we can finally offer the game to a broader gaming audience. In the upcoming months our focus will be on working on update 3.0, which we will be launching in Europe in the Spring.”
If you’re a subscriber with play time still remaining on your account you’ll receive six Aion coins (the game’s new currency) per day as compensation.
