Akasa Euler fan-less HTPC case inbound

Akasa are hoping to lead a bit of passive revolution when it comes to small form factor computer systems and HTPCs. Continuing with the growing trend of mini-ITX systems, this board naturally has mini-ITX support – although you won’t have room for any discrete cards in this system.

The sleek black finished aluminium case features an integrated passive CPU heatsink that is capable of cooling CPUs with a TDP of 35W. This case would make an ideal Intel Atom, Intel Core i3/Pentium/Celeron or AMD APU system – capable of HD playback, being a light use PC or a download server.

The entire case acts as a large heatsink, drawing heat away from the case passively. The Akasa Euler measures in at 228 x 187 x 61.5 mm. Akasa are claiming this case will have an affordable price, but with an all aluminium construction, quality black finish and integrated passive CPU cooler it certainly won’t be “cheap”. We estimate a price of at least £45.

The Akasa Euler was originally debuted back in Computex 2012, where it was also noted the case supports a 2.5″ hard drive, a slim line optical drive and has a relocatable CPU cooler.

What do you think about this passive case?… a good idea or hindered by the lack of expandability? Let us know in the comments!
