In terms of presentation, theAKASO EK7000 Pro has a nice strong aesthetic. The design of the packaging provides you with a nice clear visible view of the camera.
The information provided on it is excellent. While it doesn’t go into huge levels of detail, it does tell you everything you could want to know at a glance. This includes the specification and all of the products key features.
As above, although this isn’t entirely uncommon for action cameras, it is nice to have the camera itself in a little plastic window. It really goes to highlight the design features and particularly just how small the camera actually is. In addition, you also get to check out the touch-screen LED to the back with is surprisingly large at 2″.
If you have any experience with action cameras, you’ll know that unboxing them can be a very messy affair. It’s not that the packaging is bad, it’s just that there are loads of different components. With this in mind the Asako is no different and actually seems to offer you much more than you might expect!
It is somewhat impressive that for such a relatively small box that there can be so much inside! There is honestly enough attachments, screens, covers, clips and accessories to really let you know that AKASO has you covered, whatever you’re up to!
Upon detaching the AKASO EK7000 Pro from its boxed mount, you will notice that it is contained within the water proof casing. As the camera is rated to 131 foot underwater, it clearly needs to be rather substantial. The good is that it’s really well put together!
The case detached by a single (but sturdy) clip to the top. From that you can access the camera presuming that you want to use it without the cover. In truth, the use of the cover is entirely optional, but strongly recommended for that extra level of protection it offers. The buttons (allowing you to operate the camera with the case on) feel both firm and durable.
Getting to grips with the AKASO EK7000 Pro, you are immediately struck by the fact that it is both quite small and lightweight. Despite this, however, there is nothing within the design to make you feel concerned about it’s durability.
The camera itself has 4 basic control buttons. One to turn it on, one to snap a picture with a further 2 allowing for menu scrolling. It is all very intuiatively designed meaning that even an absolute beginner to these types of camera will not feel nervous.
The rear display screen is 2″ in size and touch screen responsive. The touch controls are pleasantly responsive and the screen is big enough to allow for poking around the options without too many ‘fat finger’ problems.
When switched on, the screen display is nice, bright and vivid. In addition, the display quality is surprisingly good. I couldn’t confirm whether this display was 4K (as the camera can record in this quality), but it was certainly high!
