Alienware Launches its First AMD-Based Laptop

Despite the relatively rocky start with the first-generation Ryzen laptop processors, everything that has come out since has been, quite frankly, more than a little impressive. While AMD admittedly still has a long way to go before it claws back any sort of respectable market share in that sector, Ryzen 4000 was certainly a step in the right direction and, with Ryzen 5000 mobile now upon us, it only feels like things are going to get even better! – In something of a firm indication of manufacturers appreciation of the designs, however, following a report via The Verge, it has been confirmed that Alienware has just launched its very first Ryzen-based laptop model!

Alienware Goes AMD Ryzen

The model in question is the Alienware M15 R5 which, in terms of hardware, certainly seems to pack a very impressive punch with even the base configuration featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor and Nvidia’s RTX 3060 going all the way up to a mammoth Ryzen 9 5900HX octa-core processor with the RTX 3070.

Even in terms of the screen, the display options available are very impressive, with the standard model featuring a 3ms response time screen and 165Hz refresh rate. As per the upgradable options above, the more premium designs even go as high as a 360Hz refresh rate.

When Are They Out?

Set to release on April 20th, as many of you might have already guessed (particularly with the brand name), the one major fly in the ointment is that the Alienware M15 R5 series of laptop designs are not cheap. With the base model starting at $2,229.99, it’s certainly a significant chunk of money. Additionally, though, and this is purely a personal opinion, does the Alienware branding really carry the prestige it once did to warrant the added cost anymore? I don’t think so.

If you do, however, want to learn more about this and their other laptop designs, you can check out the official website via the link here! (NB. the M15 R5 hasn’t been added yet, but expect to see it appear shortly).
