After an incredibly long wait, it was confirmed last June that many AMD and Nvidia graphics cards had fallen below their official MSRP figure with retailers. Yes, it only basically took 18 months, but higher-tier GPUs were finally available to purchase for prices below their originally stated figure. – And while this was certainly good news, it wasn’t all fantastic.
Specifically, while some graphics cards were available for below MSRP, this was almost exclusively focused on top-tier models with more entry to mid-tier designs generally still remaining at or above their originally quoted price. – Following the latest market research from 3DCenter, however, every single current-gen AMD and Nvidia graphics card has finally fallen below MSRP with retailers!
Now, of course, the reality of consumers actually seeing this will depend on the retailer you choose. Alas, some of them do still appear to be attempting a little gouging wherever possible. By and large, however, this fresh market information has confirmed that any remaining AMD or Nvidia graphics cards that hadn’t yet fallen below MSRP (such as the Nvidia 3070 or AMD 6700) should now (in theory) be available to purchase for less than their originally stated price!
With Nvidia 4000 and AMD Radeon 7000 just 2-3 months away, however, while this is certainly excellent news, you do have to wonder whether, ultimately, it’s all come just a bit too late for many of us to care anymore!
What do you think? Can prices still have an impact on whether you buy a graphics card now or wait for next-gen models? – Let us know in the comments!
