Alpenfohn Matterhorn Pure CPU Cooler Review

The Alpenfohn Matterhorn Pure is really punching above its weight at stock and I was truly impressed given it is only a budget single fan CPU cooler.

It was pretty quiet too thanks to the low RPM PWM fan.

At overclocked settings it dropped back a bit more but it still did really well. Apart from being beaten by the Zalman CNPS10X Optima Shark’s Fin CPU cooler it beat or matched all its main  competitors like the Cooler Master Hyper 412 Slim, the Gelid GX-7 and the SilverStone AR01.

Strangely at 100% fan speed the unit did very well on the acoustic front and to be honest you could easily use this 24/7 at 100% fan speed if it was inside a noise-proofed “silent” case.
