Alpenfohn Sella 92mm Fan CPU Cooler Review

Installing the fans is as simple as just clipping the provided fan clips on.
There are no additional clips provided so you may only mount a single provided fan unless you acquire more fan clips.
The fan is 25mm thick so makes the unit 103mm thick in total.
Installation components are simple and you need the retention ring and the two types of plastic inserts to get the heatsink installed.
To install the retention ring you place it over the holes and clip the circle flat headed pins into the locking bits inside the appropriate mounting holes.
When all clipped into place they lock like so and no backplate is needed. Be warned you have to push very hard to install these clips and I was worried about how much force was required – Alpenfohn could of certainly made it easier.
To finish things you lock the heatsink to the grooves on the retention ring using the pre-installed mounting clips on the heatsink.
As you can see the mounting ring just about stays within Intel socket specifications – just about.
When installed you can see it is certainly not small in width and takes up a lot of space.
RAM clearance is very tight but on all systems you’d be able to squeeze in four high profile RAM slots, although on compact motherboards the first RAM module and fan may touch.
The mounting clips get very close to the motherboard heatsinks but thankfully do not make any direct contact.
