Alphacool Eisbaer Pro ES 2U Quad HPE CPU Liquid Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?
It’s not a cheap cooler, but if you do want the Alphacool Eisbaer Pro ES 2U 80mm Quad HPE + 4x ES PWM fans (AMD TR4/sTRX4/SP3/sWRX8/Intel 3647) CPU cooler, it’ll set you back €249.98 including VAT and shipping from Alphacool directly. Keep in mind this isn’t an AIO, it is high-end custom loop hardware built for heavy-duty server use, so all things considered, the price isn’t too bad really.
Overview
I really like this cooler, as it did exactly what it promised it would do. It’s meant to cool very powerful processors in a server environment and form factor. I can’t really knock it down for being extremely noisy, which it most certainly is, but it’s not meant to sit in your gaming PC or office space. It’s meant to go in a server rack in a server room, and noise is not a concern there, performance is.
When it comes to performance, it certainly delivered some of the best temperatures we’ve seen, especially at idle, at the fans do not back off, they just go full-on 6000 RPM all the time, as any fans in a server have to push the airflow throughout the entire tray to cool other components behind them. The fans are industrial quality, as is the pump, so they’ll sit at max RPM 24/7 for a very long time indeed without any issues.
The build quality is robust, with high-quality and reliable components that are sure to last. However, because it’s all custom-loop components if you had to change a radiator, a hose, a fitting, a pump, or the liquid, you can, and that’s awesome. You can also expand the loop with more radiators, or blocks, it’s really up to you.
Should I Buy One?
High-end performance and build quality make this a winner, albeit one with a specific usage scenario. So while I do recommend this product, again, keep in mind it’s meant to go into a 2U server case with room for a wide radiator, and really, it’s not suitable for much else.
