We see a lot of consumer-grade products here at eTeknix, which makes sense, that’s really the thing we set out to do. However, every now and then, something a little more serious lands on our desks, such as the Alphacool Eisbaer Pro ES 2U. While most of the coolers I review are designed to go in a typical PC case, this one is designed to go into a server or rack mount, thanks to its 2U form factor. It uses a quadruple fan configuration, with three high-powered industrial 80mm fans that mount onto a very thick radiator, with a high-performance pump and long hoses. I should point out that while this is shipped like an AIO unit, it’s effectively pre-assembled custom-loop liquid cooling hardware.
The Eisbaer Pro ES 2U 80mm Quad HPE AIO water cooling system features an extremely powerful NexXxos 80mm Quad full copper radiator equipped with high-throughput 80mm ES fans. All components are from the Enterprise Solutions water cooling range. The Eisbaer Pro ES 2U 80mm Quad HPE AIO is a professional all-in-one water cooling solution that is easy to install and offers the performance of a custom loop.
The 80mm NexXxoS radiators have been specifically designed for server racks and workstations. With the special M3 mounting holes on the top and bottom and a height of just 80mm, the radiator fit perfectly into 2U server racks. The copper cooling fins are extremely thinly coated compared to other manufacturers, in order to not reduce the cooling performance. The fin spacing of 10 FPI has been optimally chosen, so the fins are close enough to provide plenty of cooling surface area, but far enough apart to not impede the airflow. Additionally, all cooling fins are covered with flaps to ensure controlled air turbulence, allowing the flowing air to better absorb and carry away heat from the cooling fins.
The cooler base covers the entire surface area of the respective processors. The cooling fins have a surface area of around 55 x 42mm, surpassing all known processor cores. This ensures that all CPU hotspots are directly and optimally cooled. The cooling fins are 0.4mm thick and are optimally spaced 0.4mm apart. There are a total of 58 cooling fins on the cooler base. The cooler base is only 3mm thick, allowing the heat to quickly reach the water and be carried away.
The Eisbaer Pro ES cooler uses the very compact DC-LT 2 pump, which provides enough power to include additional components such as GPU water coolers or radiators in the water loop.
The hose connectors come from the normal DIY segment and use a G1/4″ thread, making them easily replaceable. The TPV hose does not contain plasticizers and does not deform at high temperatures, unlike classic PVC hoses.
