A Closer Look – XPX CPU Blocks and Modding Kits
Alphacool Eisblock XPX CPU
The Eisblocks are optional extras, and while they work well with the Eiswand, they’re still standard custom loop hardware so that you could use them with your own radiators and pumps too. As you can see, they come with all the appropriate CPU/Motherboard brackets you’ll need, as well as a bit of XPX Xtreme Gelid thermal paste, and an easy to follow installation guide.
All four designs are simply stunning, although I must admit I have a soft spot for that matte finish Titanium on the right.
The blocks all use standard screw fittings, so you can get your own barbs if you liked, or any of the compatible Alphacool range to fit with ease, and they’ll work with all kinds of tubing.
All comes with a beautifully finished nickel plated copper base, and there’s a huge surface area that will more than cover even the biggest CPU dies on the market.
The build quality is rock solid, and the block is quite heavy. What’s really cool is that the top cover is removable, as is the blue Alphacool insert, and that’s where the modding kids come into play.
Alphacool Eisblock XPX Modding Kit Red
First up, we obviously have the red one, and with this, you can take that same block we see above and change the top panel cover, use the colourful mounting brackets, and there are even some beautiful matching screw covers to keep everything looking neat and tidy.
Alphacool Eisblock XPX Modding Kit Blue
If red isn’t your colour, the blue kit is the same, except it being a bright blue of course. We like this one, blue is our colour here at eTeknix.
As you can see, this is simply a top cover replacement, and the with white, red, orange, and green inserts included, you can add the accent you desire to match up with the colour scheme of your rig. Heck, you could very easily 3D print one of these or paint them as you see fit too, so go nuts and have fun!
