Alphacool Eiswand 360mm Water Cooling Kit Review

Introduction

Have you just started building yourself an incredibly powerful gaming rig, rendering system or workstation? Then you’re likely eager to keep it running nice and cool to ensure your hardware is capable of reaching its maximum performance and nice and quiet to make sure you can get back to enjoying your games and work.

“The Alphacool Eiswand is an external radiator with an integrated reservoir and two pumps. It is shipped with all the parts you need to cool your CPU and expand your cooling loop with additional products.”

Few coolers come more extreme than the Eiswand, Alphacools answer to those seeking to get the high performance of custom loop water cooling with as little fuss as possible. However, this one is a little different from your typical AIO or custom loop kit, as most of it does come pre-assembled. The radiator, reservoir and pump unit are free standing, and sit outside of your chassis; what better way to get the heat away from your system that having the radiator a few feet away!

The unit we’re reviewing today comes built to handle a single CPU block, and without a doubt, it’ll cool any CPU on the market with plenty of overclocking headroom to spare. However, you can really make this your own, adding GPU blocks, multiple CPUs, even multiple Eiswands, or other internal radiators into your loop, just like you can with any custom loop, but thanks to the included quick-release connections, the Eiswand makes expansions easier than ever.

“The Eiswand is Alphacool’s complete water cooling set for your CPU. Thanks to the included quick-release connectors, it’s easy to connect additional components to the loop, such as the Eiswolf, Alphacool’s pre-filled graphics card cooler, or an additional radiator. The core component of the Eiswand is the external 360mm full-copper radiator, which is equipped with six Eiswind fans. This means the system’s cooling power is high enough for any combination of CPU and GPU.

“The illuminated reservoir sits directly on the external radiator. The fill level can easily be seen through the large viewing window, and a fill port on the upper surface makes filling the system easy. The elegant, likewise illuminated bottom of the Eiswand contains two DC-LT silent pumps, which are also used in several of Alphacool’s other systems. The pumps’ capacity is so high that even if one of them fails, there is no noticeable loss of cooling power. This puts you on the safe side in any situation. The included XP3 cooler is among the strongest coolers on the market and is compatible with all Intel and AMD sockets. Of course, the set also includes all the other necessary parts, such as a hose, connectors, and coolant.”

Packaging and Accessories

Here you can see the lovely Eiswand, which comes in a box that is pretty darn huge and heavy. Of course, with a 360mm radiator, and all the liquid included, that’s to be expected. We’ve also got a range of optional CPU blocks, as well as some modding kits with colourful add-ons to play around with too. All boxes are nicely designed, durable and well packaged to ensure the products get to you safely.
