When fans love games, they find so many ways to bring life back into their favourite series. Some fans will create HD remakes of their favourite games, some will use the latest game to recreate the original through modding and editor tools. One such series that has now garnered its fans attention is the Metroid series, with a remake of the second game being released after eight years of development.
The remake, titled AM2R (another Metroid Remake) is being released thirty years after the original game was released, way back on the 6th August 1986. Originally released on the Famicon Disk System in Japan the game then felt success in 1987 when it was released on the NES in North America before being re-released in 1991 on the Game Boy.
AM2R is a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus and features more than just some updated textures. While only a preliminary version, the creator of AM2R is hopeful with a number of improvements and features planned for the near future. While many companies are welcoming over such fan remakes, Nintendo has a history of being a little more careful with their intellectual property, so you may want to check out the current version and download it for free from here while you can.
