In a stroke of luck, one Reddit user found themselves the recipient of a much more expensive product after ordering a modest 16GB RAM kit. The user shared their surprise on reddit (thanks PCGamesN), revealing that instead of receiving their $44.99 Corsair RAM, Amazon mistakenly sent them a Corsair MP600 Pro XT 8TB SSD worth $949.99. The post sparked lively debate, with many Redditors suggesting that the user should keep or sell the SSD, considering it a lucky break.
The user shared proof of their original order and a photo of the SSD packaging to verify the story. In their post, they asked, “I recently bought a $40 8GB x 2 of Corsair RAM and Amazon accidentally gave me a $950 SSD instead. What do I even do with it?” The majority of replies supported keeping the SSD, pointing out that it was Amazon’s error. In fact, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) states that consumers have the legal right to keep unordered merchandise, explaining that “companies can’t send unordered merchandise to you, then demand payment.”
The FTC also confirms that there is no obligation to return the item, allowing the lucky gamer to keep the SSD guilt-free. The user can either install the SSD into their gaming PC, provided their motherboard supports it, or sell it to fund further upgrades.
