Amazon’s Alexa has proven a smash hit for the company, not only as a simple AI assistant that can set your alarm clock and order you some bits and bobs from their website but also as a powerful IoT hub that connects your smart home with automation tech and a whole lot more.
Now it looks like the tools Alexa offers will be getting a big expansion, and that means that developers will have expanded conversational and response skills available to play around with. This means conversation will be more natural, a greater range of triggers will be available for events, and a lot more possibilities for creating unique skills and experiences overall.
Given that Alexa has gone from around 100 to over 5000 skills that you can apply since launch, that number is expected to continue to blow up much further as they add hundreds of new commands, slots and intents to the Alexa Skills Kit. Unfortunately for us in the UK, this is a U.S. only release for now, but other regions will follow soon enough.
