Amazon Confirms UK & Europe Price Increases for Prime

Amazon Prime is certainly a useful service if you’re a regular customer of theirs. Not only do you get faster delivery of products from their retail website, but you also get access to various other perks including their streaming service. – For those of you feeling the current pinch of tighter finances, however, you might need to start reconsidering your subscription as following a report via the BBC, Amazon has confirmed that prices for its Prime membership will be rising this September!
Amazon Increases Prime Subscription Price!
Citing increased costs due to the global rise of inflation, Amazon has confirmed that Prime subscription membership prices will be increasing across both the UK and Europe. And while this might represent its first increase in nearly 8 years, the amount they are going up by is undoubtedly a pretty substantial figure:
Annual Subscription Price
- UK – £79 to £95 – 20% increase
- France – €49 to €69.90 – 43% increase
- Germany – €69 to €89.90 -30% increase
- Italy – €36 to €49.90 – 39% increase
- Spain – €36 to €49.90 – 39% increase
What Do We Think?
Price increases are, of course, never good. At the same time though, it’s really hard to grumble too much at Amazon. As noted above, unlike other subscription services like Netflix, they’ve always seemed to be somewhat reluctant to increase its Prime price unless absolutely necessary. – Given the overall cost of living and specifically so in terms of logistics (fuel prices), it’s hardly surprising that they’ve eventually had to apply this.
What do you think though? Is this cost increase going to make you reconsider your membership? – Let us know in the comments!
