Amazon Extends ‘Part Finder’ Service to Include PC Hardware

Built-in PC Hardware Compatibility Tool

It appears that Amazon is finally extending their Part Finder service tool to include PC hardware. This Part Finder tool is mostly for finding compatible automotive parts on the website. In fact the main Part Finder landing page is entirely devoted to the automotive section.

This extension allows users to check whether the hardware components they are buying from Amazon are compatible. A widget at the top lets users select the brand and model number of your existing rig to check. So far it is only on select products and appears to be under in the testing phase.

Is Amazon Planning to Expand This to All PC Hardware?

So far, it appears that they are still testing this feature since it only shows up on some products. It is available on Samsung’s 860 EVO SSD page for example as noticed by PC Gamer, but not on other drives or video cards. Plus, unlike PC Partpicker which provides a comprehensive compatibility selection, Part Finder appears to be only compatible with pre-built systems and laptops. So for users with a custom rig, it is not as useful.

For now, users can leave feedback about this feature directly by click on the link on the Path Finder toolbar. Maybe if enough users suggest to Amazon to make this a comprehensive feature, it might happen.
