Amazon Prime as a subscription service has for many been an excellent choice. When you consider what you get for the service, as an ‘all-in-one’ package (no pun intended) for many who use the website, going Prime is a no-brainer.
Offering users access to music, films, books the subscription service has quickly garnered itself a considerable following. This is, of course, also overlooking the fact that subscribing to Amazon Prime also means you are guaranteed next day delivery on your online shopping with them. Perhaps even faster in the future if their air delivery service ever comes to fruition.
At just £7.99 a month in the UK, if you are a regular user, that can represent some real value.
The bad news, however, is that a price increase for UK customers is almost certainly on the horizon.
In a report via CNN, Amazon just applied a quite significant price increase to its prime customers in America.
In their instance, the price has increased from $10.99 a month to $12.99 a month. Now, $2 isn’t the end of the world, but it is none-the-less a significant increase.
With the increase set to come into effect on the 19th of February, the logic would suggest that if prices are increasing in the US, there’s very little reason to suggest that they will not for the UK.
As above, with it currently at £7.99, I daresay someone at Amazon HQ is thinking ‘there’s a nice ring to £9.99’.
While it’s unclear if the increase will have any significant impact, it will, if nothing else, make customers reconsider their subscriptions. I mean, we could all do with one less bill each month.
