Amazon List Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date

Red Dead Redemption 2
For many, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most anticipated game of 2018. That is, of course, presuming that it does actually release this year.
Admittedly, the chances are good. Then again, last year we saw the release delayed three times. Each time, the fan base gave a little sigh of disappointment. Upon any last solid news from the developers, we were eventually told to expect a release ‘sometime in early 2018’.
Initially, Rockstar indicated that this could possibly be around April 2018. Although that date was only achievable by some creative interpretation of their comments and a little reading between the lines.
A reveal by Amazon, however, may have just confirmed what the actual release date is.
If correct, we’re not going to have to wait that much longer.
Amazon potentially reveal release date
We certainly had to do a little digging to discover this, but Amazon has listed Red Dead Redemption 2 for release on July 12th, 2018.
This would potentially see it as being intended to be the big gaming release for the Summer. There is just one question really, how valid is this release date?
Well, firstly it seems that the release date is only being listed on the Mexican Amazon website. This in itself doesn’t necessarily mean its invalid, but a quick search of a number of other countries Amazon has found no mention of this date.
This generally tends to lean to one of two conclusions; either Amazon Mexico has accidentally revealed what could possibly be one of the most anticipated release dates for 2018 or it has put a date there simply for the sake of doing so.
While the latter does sound a little flippant, it isn’t unusual. These can sometimes be referred to as ‘placeholders’. Basically, the insertion of a date for the sake of the insertion of a date.
In fairness though, July 12th does sound about right to me and if so, we might have our first unconfirmed release date announcement.
