Amazon has finally made the decision to publicly address speculation about its upcoming Smartphone. Amazon addressed the initial publisher of the major story, former Wall Street Journal writer Amir Efrati, and told him that there would be no Amazon smartphone this year and if there was a smartphone in future it would not be free anyway.
Other than those details Amazon declined to comment. Amazon’s response implied that Amazon were working on a Smartphone though the appropriate placement of “ifs” still leave the possibility that they might not be. The fact Amazon have publicly addressed the speculation is something, but the response is certainly not as exciting as many might of hoped for.
