Amazon UK recently posted an online pre-order screen for the Rise of the Tomb Raider video game, revealing the game could be released for the older Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles.
The news hasn’t been confirmed by Square Enix yet, so it’s possible the Amazon UK listing is simply wrong. The Xbox 360 and PS3 editions are listed for £54.99, while the PC version lists for £39.99, and the Xbox One/PS4 versions are £49.85.
Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix are teaming up for the latest Tomb Raider game, which is designed for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 – but will be an added addition for gamers that still haven’t upgraded to a next-gen console. It’s no surprise game studios want to focus on the newest console platforms, however, smaller game studios have researched releasing newer titles for older platforms.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was publicly unveiled during E3 2014, and is a sequel and reboot to Tomb Raider. The title is scheduled for released by the end of 2015.
Here is what the company said while promoting the game:
“Featuring epic, high-octane action moments, Rise of the Tomb Raider will take gamers to multiple locations around the world filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth. In addition, after hearing the cry from fans loud and clear, the game will put the tombs back into ‘Tomb Raider’ all in the franchise’s gritty Survival-Action style.”
