AMD is on a roll lately with driver releases coming out non-stop it seems. Earlier in the month, we had 16.5.2 and 16.5.2.1. each bringing their own set of bug fixes and improvements. After working out a number of kinks in their own software, the latest beta release, 16.5.3 brings support for more games and a number of fixes.
First off, the headline features are added support for Overwatch and Total War: Warhammer. Both also receive new Crossfire profiles right off the bat as well. Dota 2 also gets support for using the Vulkan API path for improved performance. We also see a number of fixes for Crossfire flickering, Radeon Settings issues, and AMD XConnect problems. In total, we get 7 fixes which, once you consider the other 2 releases, are a lot of fixes for May.
There still remain a host of known but unfixed issues, mainly dealing with Crossfire. The few remaining issues deal with Frame Rate Target Control, FreeSync and Radeon Settings itself. With drivers dropping at least bi-weekly, it looks like AMD is set on making sure they get fixes out there in a timely fashion. This is a great improvement over years past and hopefully, we’ll this continue in the future.
