Shortly after their latest driver release, AMD is back with a new version of their Radeon Crimson Software. Crimson Edition 16.6.1 is a beta hotfix releases that builds upon lasts months release with yet more game support and driver fixes.
The chief additions are added support for Mirrors Edge Catalyst and Paragon. Dark Souls III also finally gets its own Crossfire profile as well. For fixes, we are getting a number for Crossfire and Radeon Settings itself. Some flickering issues are fixed as well and the most crucial one is video playback in some browsers is getting fixed. For the longest time, users have complained about flickering in video playback in their browsers and it’s nice to see AMD finally eliminate the issue.
There is still a large list of known issues that span multiple game titles and AMD software so hopefully, we’ll get some fixes for those soon. At the pace they are going at, we may see a driver release mid-month as well a final one to coincide with the RX 480 launch in late June. Hopefully, we’ll also get a WHQL release since we haven’t gotten in 3 months but honestly, the beta releases have been more than stable enough for use.
