AMD’s 4th-Gen EPYC Processors to Launch Alongside Ryzen 7000?

As far as we are aware, following the latest rumours, AMD will officially announce the launch of its new Ryzen 7000 desktop processors on August 29th with a subsequent release date being set for September 15th. Now this isn’t, of course, officially confirmed in any way. With many separate sources (and even MSI to some extent) all seemingly singing off this same hymn sheet, however, it does appear to be far more likely accurate than not.

There is, of course, also the small matter of their Radeon 7000 graphics cards which, although expected to be released within the next 1-3 months, we still have no word on (nor even rumours!). – One thing most people were not expecting, however, was the launch of AMD’s 4th-generation of EPYC processors. Following a Twitter post by leak source ‘@yuuki_ans‘, however, an image has appeared online which seemingly suggests that their release may go hand in hand with that of Ryzen 7000!

Now, of course, take this with a grain of salt. Additionally, given that EPYC processors are predominantly utilised for servers, this isn’t something generic consumers will likely be feeling too excited about. – With the EPYC 9654 chipset pictured below, however, it is being suggested that this is going to be a behemoth of a CPU with 96-cores/192-thread design with it reportedly running at a 360W TDP.

Is this leak legitimate though? Well, a closer look does appear to show the chipset within a tray suggesting that this is just one of several of the new EPYC processors on its way to its intended destination. – In other words, if they’re being shipped out, an official release can surely not be too far away!

What Do We Think?

There are more than a few rumours suggesting that even more potent models than the one pictures here might be in development by AMD. – Like the Ryzen 7000 desktop processors, however, is these are due for an impending release, we should find out (fingers crossed) for certain before the end of this month.

Yes, admittedly, 4th-gen EPYC was expected to arrive before the end of the year. A release to coincide with Ryzen 7000 though? That’s news to a lot of people!
