AMD has today officially announced the XT variant of its RX 7600 to reinforce the mid-range market and almost looks to be a competitor to the infamous 16GB RTX 4060 Ti though this card at a cheaper price could be more well received.
The RX 7600 XT offers itself as an ideal graphics card targeting 1080p and 1440p resolutions featuring support for AMD advanced technologies including FidelityFX Super Resolution and AMD HYPR-RX with AMD Fluid Motion Frames. Equipped with 32 unified high-performance AMD RDNA 3 compute units, 64 AI Accelerators, 16GB of GDDR6 Memory on a 128-bit bus, 32MB infinity cache and a boost clock of up to 2.76 GHz. Aside from the doubled memory and increased boost clocks, this card is near identical to the RX 7600 though those changes have increased the TBP to 190W and AMD has made the decision to exclusively use DisplayPort 2.1 with no option of 1.4 even with board partners.
The RTX 4060 Ti 16GB didn’t show much performance increase from it’s increased VRAM, however due to the increased clock speeds of the 7600 XT, it seems as though there will be some improvements compared to the RX 7600 as shown below. Interestingly AMD have decided to compare the two with an RTX 2060 6GB which is a strange choice. Most of the games receive modest improvements though Forza Horizon 5 seems to make strong gains of 41% at 1440p from the increased memory.
“Discerning gamers around the world are looking for a simple goal of smooth lag-free gameplay at affordable prices to enjoy the most of their gaming experience. Today, the Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card delivers on that goal,” said Jack Huynh, senior vice president and GM, Computing and Graphics Group at AMD.
“Surveys show that a large number of gamers play at 1080p, and the new AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card, with its 16GB frame buffer, delivers future-proofed performance to this sweet spot of the market,” said Dave Altavilla, principal analyst at HotTech Vision And Analysis. “The AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card also has the ability to hit 1440p resolutions as well with advanced features like FSR 3 AMD Fluid Motion Frames.”
The RX 7600 XT will be available on January 24th for a price of $329, Visit AMD.com for more information.
