The NDA date is finally passed meaning all AMD Add in board partners can now release their versions of the HD 7970. As expected most companies are only launching reference designs as development of custom graphics card designs takes a while to develop. All feature the same things so whether you choose to buy from ASUS, PowerColor, Sapphire, Vertex 3D, MSI, HIS or Club 3D so it is all a matter of brand preference when it comes down to a reference graphics card. The HD 7970 will feature 3GB of GDDR5 RAM with AMD reference clock speeds of 925 MHz core and 5.50 GHz (1375 MHz actual) on the memory.
The cards all feature Direct X 11.1 support, 28nm technology, eyefinity support, PCI-E 3.0 support along with the same display output configuration of: Two Mini-Display port, one HDMI and one DVI. The price tag for them all will be in the region of $500-$575 or £450-£500. There was only one company who released a non reference design, XFX, you can read about their card in the next news article.
