AMD Bulldozer FX 8150 breaches 8.8GHz

AMD’s FX may have been an almost total let down for the mainstream consumer market but across the extreme overclocking community AMD platforms make some of the best overclocking systems. Whilst Llano FM1 is widely recognised for its ability to help memory reach record levels, Bulldozer and AM3+ performs extremely well under LN2 cooling. The latest record achieved by Thai overclocker “ksin” sees the FX-8150 from AMD reach a staggering 8.8GHz across 2 cores (1 module) using a 29 multiplier and 303.29MHz base clock. A core voltage of 1.86v was required to reach the frequency.

The other components used were an ASUS Crosshair V formula motherboard and some ADATA 2X2GB memory clocked at 1417MHz. No details on cooling were submitted but it seems safe to assume liquid nitrogen was used as water or air surely would not have been sufficient for 1.86 volts.
