AMD Bulldozer motherboards from MSI leaked

Bulldozer is the hot topic for AMD at the moment and consumers are eagerly awaiting details on the upcoming platform, waiting for their hard earned cash to be spent on the new technology.

As the launch draws closer, more details have arisen in the form of leaked news, and this time it’s from a distributor in regards to some motherboards supporting Bulldozer from MSI.

Three boards were leaked in total using two different chipsets; the 990FX and 970.

The first board based on the new 990FX chipset will also feature the SB950 southbridge and will be called the 990FXA-GD80. This board will see four DDR3 memory slots (quad-channel?), four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots with another two PCIe 2.0 slots and a single legacy PCI slot. For connectivity we will be shown two USB 3.0 ports, and six USB 2.0 ports which interneally we will see two USB 3.0 headers and four USB 2.0 headers. A total of six SATA 6Gbps connectors featuring support for RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 are also included and as always Firewire is also included.

The next board that was leaked is dubbed the 990FXA-GD65 which features a similar feature list as its bigger brother; the GD80 but has a different orientation of PCI slots. This board will feature two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots, three PCI-Express 2.0 slots and two legacy PCI slots.

The last board to feature is based on the 970 chipset and incorporates the same SB950 southbridge and is called the 970A-G45. It includes two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots, two PCi-Express 2.0 slots and two legacy PCI slots. Four USB 3.0 ports will be included on this board spread across two internal and two external and a grand total of 12 USB 2.0 ports.

These specs are confirmed and no word on the launch date or pricing but we should see more details revealed as time goes on and we step into Q3 2011.
