AMD Announces Capsaicin Siggraph With Radeon RX Vega

Over the past couple of years, AMD has started a new series of events. All under the Capsaicin branding, the presentations always end with product launches, revealing architectural details or teasers. The latest Capsaicin event, Capsaicin SIGGRAPH is expected to be no different than the rest. AMD previously promised that Radeon RX Vega would launch at SIGGRAPH and they holding true to their promise. The event will take place on July 30th.
Previously, some concerns were raised as the program did not mention Radeon RX Vega at all. This was despite CEO Lisa Su confirming earlier in the year that the new GPUs would launch at SIGGRAPH. So far, we have few details about what they will look like. At the very least, however, we can expect gaming performance on par with Radeon Pro Vega Frontier Edition. This is due to improved clock speeds and likely more mature drivers. Hopefully, AMD will have been able better optimise for the Vega architecture.
High hopes for Radeon RX Vega
AMD has teased Vega for gaming for quite a while by now. From the various architectural details released, it appears that AMD has tweaked a lot of parts to increase efficiency and performance. One can only hope that driver tweaks will be able to make the optimisations shine. If the reports that RX Vega will have terrific performance per dollar pan out, we can expect a shake-up in the graphics card market.
Beyond Radeon RX Vega, AMD is also going to be talking about some of their other lineups. The most important for users is Ryzen Threadripper which is supposed to launch in Summer 2017. This is the new HEDT lineup with up to 16 cores on the new X399 platform. We also have Radeon Pro for the prosumer/workstation market. EPYC also makes an appearance with up to 32 cores and Radeon Instinct GPU accelerators. It looks like July 30th is going to be an action-packed day for AMD.
