AMD claims former managers copied 100,000+ confidential files before Joining Nvidia

AMD has filed a case against four former employees in the U.S. District of Massachusetts. One of the four was the Vice President of strategic development Robert Feldstein and the other three are Manoo Desai, Nicolas Kociuk and Richard Hagen who worked in AMD’s Boxborough plant.

They left AMD last year to work with Nvidia. According to the chipmaker, all four of them have breached their contracts, trade secret laws and unfair competition laws, even violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

The reason for this is that according to AMD, the four former employees have copied more than 100,000 confidential documents which contain trade secrets at the time they quit working for the chipmaker.

As of now, the court sanctioned a temporary restraining order over the questioned former employees and ordered not to divulge any AMD confidential information, papers, computers and/or devices.

AMD said that they were able to uncover the evidence against the four former employees as they have records which show that they have transferred large amounts of data to an external storage device prior to leaving AMD to work for Nvidia. The chipmaker also claims that one of the managers did several internet searches on how to copy and/or delete large number of documents.
