AMD Creates Website Addressing Windows 11 Ryzen Slowdown

It was always expected that the initial general consumer release of Windows 11 was likely to produce, or more accurately discover, a number of bugs and glitches with the operating system. It was, however, confirmed yesterday that rather than a mild inconvenience, AMD Ryzen processor owners began experiencing huge performance drops offs after making the switch.

While you can learn more about it here, the short version is that the operating system had two major problems with the CPU. The ‘preferred core’ system was no longer working, and the L3 cache latency had been increased by up to three times its pre-Windows 11 amount.

While both AMD and Microsoft have acknowledged the issue, however, this does leave Ryzen users with something of a short-term problem. Put simply, on Windows 11, their CPU is performing nowhere near as well as it should with drop-offs as high as 10-15% in gaming already confirmed. – Following the launch of an official website, however, it does appear that AMD is confident that a fix should be released within the very near future!

AMD Ryzen Windows 11 Performance Bug! – Fix Incoming?

While it has been confirmed that a Windows 11 update should be arriving within the next few days that will hopefully address the problem, it seems that AMD is entirely open to the possibility, if not probability, that it might need to tweak its chipset drivers to fix the issue. As such, a new website has created where we presume they’ll update it to allow users to download the necessary files once the problem has (hopefully) been fixed!

The only moderate downside to this announcement is that the website currently states that the update is scheduled to release in ‘October’ with nothing currently being suggested more specific than that. On the plus side, this would seem to confirm that a fix should be coming in the very near future. On the downside, however, current AMD Ryzen Windows 11 users might have a wait of up to 3 weeks of having their processor’s performance basically hamstrung due to an unforeseen bug.

Put simply, if you have a Ryzen processor and want to make the update to Windows 11, the best advice at the moment is to wait at least until the end of this month.
