True to their promise, AMD has dramatically improved their driver situation over the past year. Just last month, the company released their new Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition drivers. Due to the new dramatic feature additions, there were a large number of bugs that required fixing right away, leading to the 16.12.2 Beta drivers. Today, we’re getting the new official 16.12.2 WHQL certified drivers.
As you might infer from the version numbers, the two 16.12.2 releases are actually the same release, The releases notes for the new WHQL certified drivers are the exact same as those for beta drivers last month. Given the lack of major changes, those who are not experiencing any bugs probably have no need to upgrade. However, there does remain the possibility that there were unnoted changes as well so there is no reason not to upgrade. You can find the drivers as well as the release notes here.
