One of AMD’s most impressive creations is the WX 7100 which employs a single slot form factor measures 9.5″ long. This particular card is dubbed the world’s fastest single-slot workstation GPU and has enough horsepower to drive VR experiences. More specifically, the Radeon Pro WX 7100 is based on the 4th generation GCN architecture, has 2304 stream processors and a peak performance of 5.7 TFLOPS. Furthermore, the card comes with 8GB GDDR5 memory and uses under 130-watts. As expected, the product has 10-bit colour depth support, is ready for HDR via DisplayPort 1.4 and even supports 5K at 60Hz.
In terms of performance, the Radeon Pro WX 7100 is nothing short of astonishing and outclasses the NVIDIA Quadro M4000 in SOLIDWORKS 2015. As you can see, the end-user can achieve gains up to 45% which by switching to AMD’s latest product. This is a substantial amount and enough of a reason for manufacturers to consider the Radeon Pro WX 7100 for a wide range of workstation scenarios.
Interestingly, the GPU can deliver a spectacular VR experience through advanced visualisation in design. This means you can build a real-world environment through the programming tools and explore the area in an immersive fashion. This is going to be essential in the future as VR becomes used for different applications. Of course, this requires additional horsepower which the Radeon Pro WX 7100 can provide.
