Even since the launch of the Ryzen platform back in 2017, AMD has, slowly but surely, been clawing back a very respectable slice of the desktop CPU market share. Admittedly, they still have a very long way to go before their laptop market even approaches something worthy of note. Still, if you’re in the market for a new processor (presuming that they were readily available), then the chances are more than high that even those firmly entrenched in the Intel camp for several years now might’ve been having a few peaks over the Team Red fence.
If Amazon is any kind of indication of market trends, however, then it would appear that things are still remaining heavily in AMD’s favour. Why? Well, out of their top 8 best selling CPUs, only one of them is from Intel.
In something that isn’t surprising, the Amazon best-selling CPU charts are largely dominated by both AMD’s latest 5000 series as well as their prior 3000 series CPUs. The former is, of course, both potent and popular, while the latter still offers exceptionally decent performance for those on a budget.
Despite Intel recently applying some pretty hefty discounts to their 10th-Gen Comet Lake-S series on the platform, however, it clearly hasn’t done much to shift sales away from AMD.
Whatever performance gains can be seen from Intel, which admittedly has become a lot slimmer since Ryzen landed, ultimately, the vast majority of consumers will nearly always be led by what they can afford. And in that regard, while not all Ryzen CPUs might be the best for what they offer in terms of price to potency, they still clearly remain exceptionally hard to ignore!
