AMD HD 7000 series GPUs to get Liquid Chamber technology

We have all probably seen Vapor X cooling before so the use of water in air cooling isn’t anything particularly new. But AMD’s HD 7900 GPUs which are due for release within a month or so will use what AMD is touting as Liquid Chamber technology, a new variation on the use of water within reference coolers. The Liquid Chamber cooling technology is best explained in the diagram below:

 

It would therefore seem the day of bad AMD reference GPU coolers are over as this custom designed liquid chamber cooler from Vapro Inc should set the standard for a high level of cooling performance. Not to mention the fact the 28nm process should yield lower power GPUs along with lower heat outputs for the same performance level. Watch this space, there is sure to be plenty more to come about AMD’s upcoming graphics cards in the weeks ahead.
