AMD is Planning New Ryzen 3 Budget-Friendly CPUs
Mike Sanders / 5 years ago
With the launch of AMD’s 3rd-gen CPU platform last year, we’ve currently seen releases from the Ryzen 5, 7, and 9 series. To date, however, any mention of a Ryzen 3 has been more than a little quiet. Following a post on Twitter, however, it seems that AMD may be readying the launch of their new budget-focused designs!
AMD Ryzen 3
Noting both a Ryzen 3100 and 3300X design, the post would make a lot of sense in filling in the blanks. Based on prior speculation leaks, it’s likely that these processors will feature some (if not all) of the following features:
- 4-core/8-thread design
- Single CCX with 16MB of L3 cache, 2MB of L2 cache
- Ryzen 3100 boost clock speed of 3.9GHz
- Ryzen 3300X boost clock speed of 4.3GHz
So, in terms of comparative power, these are clearly going to be significantly less grunty than the current AMD 3rd-gen Ryzen range. As above though, with these being specifically designed for a low-cost market, they could prove to be exceptionally popular for those looking for a decently powerful processor at a wallet-friendly price!

What Do We Think?
With Intel set to formally release its 10th-gen i3 processors within the next 4-8 weeks, it always seemed likely that Team Red was going to have some sort of response planned. As such, we’re likely going to see some pretty hefty benchmarking wars fought not only in terms of the top-spec designs but also in the entry-level market. That is, of course, presuming that Intel’s 10th-gen Comet Lake-S designs are not the dumpster fire some leaks are suggesting!
What do you think? Would you be interested in one of these AMD budget CPUs? How do you think they’ll stack up against Intel’s upcoming launches? – Let us know in the comments!
