A new AMD processor in the form of an engineering model has been leaked in the Artificial Intelligence benchmark “Geekbench AI,” specifically in the CPU test under the ONNX framework. This processor is expected to belong to the Krackan Point family and is targeted at more affordable AI-powered devices.
Unique Core Configuration with Zen 5 and Zen 5c Cores
This processor features 6 cores divided into two groups or clusters with 3 cores each. This indicates that it likely consists of 3 AMD Zen 5 cores and another 3 smaller, more power-efficient Zen 5c cores. Such a distribution is a novel approach within AMD’s offerings, showcasing an interesting balance between performance and efficiency.
Designed for Budget AI Laptops
According to the leak, the base frequency of this CPU is 2 GHz, and all cores include SMT, providing a total of 12 execution threads. Additionally, it was spotted on an ASUS computer.
Positioned as a modest and economical solution, this CPU will coexist with Strix Point but is expected to target more budget-conscious buyers. It is expected to include 8-core models with a common 4+4 core setup, possibly branded as Ryzen 5 AI 300 or similar. These CPUs are designed to compete with other budget AI solutions, such as the Snapdragon X Plus.
