AMD launch the HD 7750 and HD 7770 GHz Edition graphics cards

Today marks the arrival of two new products from AMD, as well as a new milestone reached. Third and fourth entry in the next generation of GPU, the 28nm-based Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition and the Radeon HD 7750 graphics cards.

The HD 7770 GHz Edition graphics card is the first card featuring a reference engine clock breaking the 1GHz barrier, which is a world’s first on its own.

The HD 7750 graphics card, even though it doesn’t sport a world’s first, does offer a superior performance level without requiring its own power connector and providing exceptional gaming experience under 75 watts.

“We were first to 40nm, first to 28nm and now we offer the world’s first GPU at 1GHz; this is a milestone for the graphics industry,” said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager, GPU Division, AMD. “AMD continues to deliver superior performance, rich features and world-class power efficiency – we never stop innovating.”

Just like the previous release in the HD 7900 series, these new entries in the HD 7700 series still capture the hearts of gamers with its various features including AMD’s new Graphics Core Next (GCN) Architecture, providing spectacular performance and efficiency, the  leading-edge technology PCI Express® 3.0, the incredibly efficient AMD ZeroCore Power, PowerTune, AMD Eyefinity 2.0 and AMD App technologies.

Specification wise, there is few reasons to complain, the HD 7750 alone comes with 512 stream processors, engine clock at 800 MHz, while the 1GB of GDDR5 memory on the 128-bit interface is clocked at 1,125 MHz. The board power is around 55 W, while  idle power is under 3 W. Display outputs include DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort for a maximum of 6 displays.

The HD 7770 GHz Edition does offer some more performance with 640 stream processors, an engine clock at 1,000 MHz and 1GB of GDDR5 memory on a 128-bit interface clocked at 1,125 MHz. Board power is around 80W while idle power remains under 3 W. Display outputs also includes DVI and HDMI with an additional DisplayPort compared to the HD 7750. Once again, 6 is the maximum number of displays you’ll be able to use.

Now available from various retailer and e-tailers worldwide, the price stands at $159 SEP for the Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition and $109 SEP for the Radeon HD 7750.

Expect to see add-in-board partners like Sapphire, Powercolor, HIS and others to release their own version of the graphics card, some are already available now at dabs.com.
