AMD Officially Reveals Ryzen Z1 Processors To Be Used In The ASUS ROG Ally

AMD has today introduced the new Ryzen Z1 processors for handheld PC gaming consoles and the chips we are expecting to see within the ASUS ROG ALLY.

AMD Ryzen Z1 Series

The new Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme from AMD are designed for handheld PC gaming consoles and make use of the highly efficient Zen 4 architecture to deliver incredible battery life for a truly portable, high-performance gaming experience. These processors further make use of the RDNA 3 architecture to provide the graphics to run modern games smoothly with handheld devices. These new chips come in two models with its top Z1 Extreme featuring 8 cores and 16 threads.

Performance

AMD has provided some performance graphs for both of these new chips which will give us a rough idea of what to expect from the upcoming ASUS ROG ALLY. As we can see at 1080p low settings the Z1 Extreme is looking to hold an acceptable gaming experience across the board with almost 60 FPS in most games. The Z1 Extreme features lows of 47.9 in Red Dead Redemption 2 and highs of 162 in CS:GO. It is likely that the ALLY will need to make use of FSR to get a comfortable 60 in some games and in the case of the lesser non-extreme Z1 which just about holds 30FPS in most of the games, FSR will definitely be wanted.

Availability

The Z1 chips will be first available with the ROG ALLY and more information for the handheld will be announced by ASUS on May 11th with availability and pricing. If you wish to learn more about the Ryzen Z1 processors you can at AMD.com.
