AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition AM3 Processor Review

Final Thoughts
The X2 555 is a great addition to the AMD Phenom II family and will be a great contender to some of the processors produced by Intel, but featuring a better price point, thus giving more bang for buck which is where AMD really excel with this CPU.
Being a Phenom II it gives the extra L3 cache that it’s famous for and also features an unlock multiplier for extreme overclocking, though we weren’t able to get too far over 4GHz, even by ramping the voltages through the roof.
For around the same kind of money, the Phenom II X2 560 could be purchased, which comes with an extra 100MHz on the clock speed, essentially in the eyes of overclocking an extra 100MHz to work with, hopefully breaking through to around 4.2GHz. This chip is nothing to be grumbled at though, giving a stable 4GHz overclock for the price of a CPU with a lot lower stock speed, and we’re always happy to get more for our money to pass onto you; the consumer.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- L3 cache
- Good overclocking potential
- Cheaper alternative to Intel
Cons:
- Phenom II X2 560 can be had for around the same price
