A Closer LookThe card looks very similar from a first glance to the 6450 that we took a look at a while ago. It is quite a small layout and design and is clearly aimed at users wanting a low profile card that uses little to no power. The cooler consists of a slim black plastic cover over a copper fin heatsink and small fan. We’re unsure as to why but the plastic cover and fan both have ATI branding and not AMD, though we are putting this down to it being a review sample and not the final product.
The card has a low profile design and only takes up a single slot in your expansion bay. Due to the short length of the card there shouldn’t be any problem housing this in a variety of different sized cases.
The 50mm fan that is fitted to the card consists of seven red blades and the ATI branding is in the middle.
The plastic heatsink casing around also has the ATI logo embossed onto it and all sits over a copper heatsink with small fins. The major components of the card are situated underneath the cooler and includes the GPU core and memory chips. The fan connects into the cards power in the top right of the card.
The back of the card is very simple and just has a clamp bracket in place to hold the heatsink and fan together from this side.
The card has the ability to be modified for lower profile use by disconnecting the VGA port, removing the expansion bracket plate and purchasing a lower profile bracket with only two ports (DisplayPort and DVI) in use
As said the card has three different connections allowing for some of the most common interfaces. It includes a removable VGA port, DisplayPort and DVI port.
