AMD Radeon 7000 to Release in December (With Leak Citing Performance Concerns)

Based on an announcement made last month, it was confirmed that AMD was set to officially launch their new upcoming Radeon 7000 graphics cards on November 3rd. – With that being said, however, it should, of course, be noted that there is a key difference between a launch and a release date. At the risk of insulting some of you reading this’ intelligence; A launch date is merely the date on which a product is announced. A release date is when it’s actually available to purchase.

So, with AMD Radeon 7000 being launched on November 3rd, when could we anticipate it to be released? – Well, following a report via TechSpot, a leak source is claiming that despite landing in just over 2 weeks, AMD’s latest graphics cards might not actually hit shelves until as late as December!

Additionally, though, for those of you hoping for some competition, it doesn’t look good as the source has also said that AMD’s absolute best will not come anything close to Nvidia’s meaning that price is (or may) be pretty much all Team Red might be able to rely on.

AMD Radeon 7000 – December Release And Falling Well Below Nvidia’s New Level of Performance!

So, starting with the release date, the source has indicated that AMD will be launching two (yet unconfirmed) flagship graphics card products in December. The first, presumably the 7900 XT will arrive in the first two weeks of the month while the latter, again, presumably the 7800 XT, will come at some point in the last two weeks. – And, just to clarify in terms of time scales, this is pretty much identical to the prior launch to release windows seen when the Radeon 6000 series dropped back in 2020.

What about comparative performance though? Well, in this regard, the source has said that the 7900 XT will not manage to even mildly match up to the performance offered by the Nvidia 4090. Not that this is overly surprising since the 4090 demonstrated a colossally huge uplift of as much as 50-100% even when compared to the 3090 Ti. – They have, therefore, suggested that internal discussions are currently being held at AMD in terms of potentially taking Nvidia on in terms of price (since they can’t beat them in performance).

This a move that may potentially see AMD willing to effectively write off the Radeon 6000 series (not that it was overly popular in the first place) by making the 7900XT potentially match the original MSRP of the 6900XT ($999). – Will it happen? Hard to say. Certainly doubtful. But given that we know how much the 4090 costs, and how much the 4080 16GB will cost (ignoring the 4080 12GB since this still looks like a rebranded 4070), would you write off the 6900 XT if it came in a little under par in outperformance performance, but absolutely destroyed Nvidia in the bang for buck?…

At this point, I think I’m at least willing to wait and see.
