AMD Display Technology Advancements
AMD has always been big on the biggest possible resolutions with the most possible screens. The RX 2XX series continues this trend and with redesigned Eyefinity and improved 4K support AMD is looking to take high resolution gaming to the next level.
AMD predicts significant growth in 2560 x 1440 based resolutions as well as 4K Ultra HD resolutions so having the GPU to power these displays is going to be vital for gamers. AMD have developed a range of new display technologies to improve compatibility with UHD and higher resolution displays.
As part of the Eyefinity revamp you can now run 3 way Eyefinity from any combination of ports – DisplayPort is no longer required. This means you can leave the DisplayPort for an MST Hub and then run up to six displays through the widely used DVI/DVI/HDMI/DP AMD display output configuration.
MST hubs, such as the Club3D MST Hub we recently reviewed here, are going to be vital to accessing that elusive Eyefinity 6.
