AMD Radeon RX 500 Series Video Card Launch Pushed Back

AMD’s Radeon RX 500 series video cards are expected to be a refresh of existing Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 RX 400 series GPUs, but it has nonetheless been a cause of excitement for those looking for alternative value cards to compete with NVIDIA’s current GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti line. The original expected release date for the RX 570/580 was supposed to be April 4th, while the RX 550/560 was due to arrive on April 11th (according to German website Heise.de). Chinese site MyDrivers.com is reporting however, that launch date has been pushed all the way to April 18th, most likely to fine tune the drivers and final specifications.

The Radeon RX 500 line will bring about improved performance-per-watt over the previous generation Radeon RX 400 series equivalent and some clock speed bumps are also expected to go along with it. These are cards targeted for budget and mainstream gaming PC’s and should tide the interest over in the Radeon front while AMD sorts out their flagship RX Vega GPU release which has been previewed at the most recent Game Developer Conference in San Francisco. Prices for existing RX 480 4GB and 8GB models have also been dropping to stay competitive, but there is no word yet on the upcoming Radeon RX 500 line pricing which is situated to be priced below those models.
