Ahead of AMD’s launch next week for the RX 500 series, more performance numbers have come out. As a refresh of the current RX 400 lineup, there is no expectation of dramatic performance increases but there should be some gains overall due to improved clock speeds, efficiency increases, and improved process. This time around, we have all three cards that are expected to be available at launch, the RX 580, RX 570 and RX 550 being tested in 3DMark.
First up we have the RX 580 which uses the same Polaris 10 as in the RX 480. With the same 2304 stream processors, 144 TMUs and 32 ROPs, the clock speed has been bumped up to 1340 MHz boost and an 8pin PCIe power connector has been added to help with overclocking and avoid power issues. As expected, the performance is pretty much exactly in line with the RX 480 at the same. However, it looks like the overclocks have improved with this sample hitting 1500 MHz, giving us a 3DMark FireStrike Extreme score of 6675.
Next up we have the RX 570 which is the rebranded RX 470 with 2048 stream processors. Interestingly, there is no increase to the core clock but the memory speeds are bumped up to 7 GHz to give us 224 GB/s of bandwidth. Overclocked to 1325 MHz, it spits out 5719 points in 3DMark FireStrike Extreme.
Finally, we have the RX 550 which uses the new Polaris 12 die. With only about 640 stream processors, it gets away with using just the PCIe slot power. At 1190 MHz, it scores 1849 in 3DMark FireStrike Extreme which is lower than the RX 460 but expected. I expect AMD will release a RX 560 later on with Polaris 11 to fill in the gap.
